Chapter 9
I walked to the end of the corridor with Antonio following me. The sunlight outside the window spilled onto the floor through the glass, casting and stretching our shadows, seemingly indicating the invisible chasm that held us apart.
He stood behind me and said after a moment of silence, “Grace, I know I made a mistake. I really don’t want to lose you.”
I turned around and looked into his eyes, feeling nothing at
all.
Though I had loved him for so long, the moment he cheated on me, my feelings for him were all gone.
“Antonio, just because you apologize doesn’t mean I can let this slide.”
Taking a deep breath, I continued, my tone calm and firm, “We’re done.”
“Darling, I promise I’ll make a clean break with her. Just give me a chance, please,” he begged me humbly.
His eyes, which used to be so gentle and deep, were now bloodshot, filled with struggle and pain.
His finger trembled slightly. It seemed he wanted to touch me but didn’t dare to come anywhere closer to me.
I made up my mind already and wouldn’t waver no matter
what.

Chapter 9
“Antonio, I think I’ve made myself clear”
I looked at him, my gaze and voice icy.
“From the second you cheated on me, you and I are done?
I never changed my decisions. All those memories from the past were now nothing but cold, meaningless fragments, and it was impossible to piece them back together.
“Darling, are you really this cruel?”
He looked at me in despair, his voice broken. “We’ve been together for so long. For old time’s sake, give me a chance to make it up to you, OK?”
Saying this, he suddenly grabbed my hand with so much force that it hurt.
In the past, whenever he admitted his mistakes, I’d always go through anything with him no matter how serious it was.
But things had changed. He had crossed a line, and I wouldn’t forgive him whatsoever.
“Let go,” I said coldly and resolutely.
He shook his head, his eyes brimming with tears.
I struggled, trying to break free, but he clutched my hand so tightly as if it were his last lifeline.
I looked into his eyes, my tone even colder. “If yo don’t leave, don’t blame me for what I’m gonna do. I’ll tell everyone that you cheated on me.”
I didn’t push him that much for old time’s sake, but if he

insisted on pushing it, why would I save his face for him?

His face instantly turned pale as he loosened his grip slightly, seemingly stunned by my words.
Then he parted his lips, wanting to say something. Yet, he didn’t. In the end, he just let go dejectedly and stepped back.
I turned around to leave without looking back.
I went back to the VIP room alone, which caught my parents‘
attention.
“Where’s Antonio? Why didn’t he come back with you?” Dad asked me while Mom held my hand worriedly.
“Dad, it’s a long story. I’ll tell you after you’re discharged.”
I wanted to tell them after Dad was fully recovered.
“Whatever happened, we just want you to be happy,” Mom looked at me, saying seriously.
Feeling bitter, I nodded heavily.
Suddenly, my phone beeped.
