Chapter 14
I was lifted from the abyss, my body pressed against warmth, the sound of a steady heartbeat grounding me.
Moments later, I gasped, my body still trembling, wrapped in the arms of a wolf with striking
features.
His steel–gray suit clung to his form, soaked through, droplets of seawater sliding down his sharp jaw.
His eyes, a piercing silver, studied me with a calm intensity.
“Miss Lilliana. Let’s go into the house and regain our temperature.” His voice was deep, steady, commanding.
He carried me inside before I could protest.
Once changed, I studied him carefully.
“You know me?” I asked, watching him closely.
A small, knowing smile tugged at his lips.
“I know your father.”
“You’re our dinner guest?”
He nodded.
Magnus Steele.
His name carried weight, his pack controlling Ironclaw Pack’s oil territories.
I inhaled carefully, searching for deception in his scent. But there was none.
Only truth, quiet strength, and something else–something unreadable.
“Please don’t tell my parents.”

Magnus tilted his head, considering. Then, he nodded.
During dinner, my father spoke of the future, discussing business alliances.
But I barely listened.
My mind was elsewhere. Back at the cliff.
I had felt him before he pushed me.
That scent–masked, but not invisible.
Someone wanted me gone.
And I needed to find out who.
Later that night, I stayed behind to investigate.
Magnus leaned against the doorframe, watching. “You’re looking for security footage?”
I didn’t answer. I didn’t have to.
“I need to identify my attacker.”
The restaurant staff hesitated before reporting the cameras had been covered.
My wolf snarled in frustration.
“This wasn’t random,” she growled. “Someone wanted us dead.”
I sent the footage to Sarah immediately.
“Help me identify him.”
I hesitated before adding-
“If Magnus hadn’t appeared…”
I didn’t finish the sentence. Because we both knew the truth.
I wouldn’t have survived.

Meanwhile, the other end of the wolf pack, Martyna paced her den, frustrated by Adeleke’s ignored communication. When her communication crystal finally rang.
What? Lilliana was rescued? By whom?”
As strange Alpha described the evening’s events, Martyna’s claws dug into her palms, jealousy
ourning. Why did the Moon Goddess keep protecting Lilliana?
She escaped this time. But next time she definitely wasn’t so lucky!”
Wait for the right moment,” Martyna counseled.
Author’s words: could Lilliana be the perfect solution to this problem?
