ker or happens naturally.” Adeleke said, his gaze warm as he died me. Perhaps by winter’s
end. Boy or girl, any pop from my Lan would be perfect.”
1sed at the pioner with an expressionless face, but before I could respond, a Gamma warrior rashed into the bakery, has scene tinged with urgency. “Alpha, someone smashed up your chariot.”
Adeleke frowned. Thandle it.” He turned back to me, his voice dropping to something softer. “Eat, love. And remember, no iced drinks–your cycle begins in two days.”
A ripple of admiration passed through the Maple Forest. Young she wolves whispered, sighing at the devotion of their Alpha. “He tracks her cycles? What a perfect mate…
The elderly Forest Guardian smiled at me. “You’re blessed, dear. Finding a devoted mate is rare
1 forced a smile, the taste of bitterness thick on my tongue. “Yes… rare indeed.” If only I had actually
found one.
my sharp gaze followed Adeleke as he strode out of the Maple Pack, his powerful form moving with the confidence of a wolf who believed himself untouchable. The Gamma warrior led him straight toward a rose–gold chariot, parked beside our silver one.
I recognized it instantly. Martyna’s car.
A “welcome home gift from Adeleke, nearly as expensive as the Silverwind chariot he had given me only hours ago.
My mind link pulsed, I had to accept the message from the other side.
Adeleke’s voice came through, husky with familiarity. “Our clever Martyna, sending someone to
fetch me…”
Martyna’s purr followed, dripping with satisfaction. “I asked your Beta for your location. You promised to come once she was asleep.”
A soft whimper. “Thinking of you with her on your anniversary. it hurts.”
Adeleke’s low chuckle sent a shiver of revulsion through me. “Be patient, my honey. I won’t touch

her tonight.”
“Hurry to me, then. Follow my scent…”
Then, the unmistakable sound of kissing filled the line before I ended the call, my hands trembling
My wolf stirred inside me, claws raking at my ribs, pushing against my control. The cake before me turned stomach–churning.
I picked up the silver fork and stabbed the chocolate “Happy Anniversary” plaque until the words
disappeared, obliterated beneath the force of my blows.
Thirty minutes later, Adeleke returned. His presence filled the space as he slid into the seat beside me, concern etching his handsome features. “You’re pale as moonlight. Should we see the pack
healer?”
I turned my head away. “I heard something revolting. Lost my appetite.”
His brow furrowed. “What did you hear?”
My golden eyes met his, sharp with restrained fury. “Nothing you want to know about.”
Adeleke reached for me, but I dodged his touch, I drove the silver chariot back to the lair alone.
Adeleke followed in his chariot.
Behind us, Martyna’s rose–gold chariot purred down the road–a grotesque parade of betrayal.
At the Alpha’s Keep, Adeleke caught my arm, his grip firm but careful “Love, why are you upset? Because I left you alone with the cake?”
I studied his face, taking in the furrowed brow, the slight guilt in his expression. Concerned about leaving me alone, but not about the woman who had stolen his touch.
I gave him a single, cold answer. “Yes.”
He sighed, tilting his head, as if contemplating how to soothe me. “I’m sorry. Next time, even if the chariot is destroyed, I’ll stay with you.”
A pause. Then, with practiced regret, he added, “A prominent pack member has been gravely injured. I need to go. But I’ll be back soon, believe me.”

My stomach twisted. The momentary flicker of anticipation in his eyes betrayed the lie.
So eager to leave, he would invent an emergency?
I nodded silently and turned away.
Not long after, I found myself in the private garage, the scent of cedar and deceit thick in the air. And
there, I saw them.
Martyna leaned against the rose gold vehicle, smiling as Adeleke’s hand rested against her waist.
“I wore the moon silk stockings you love,” she murmured, her fingers trailing up his chest. “You haven’t changed after all these years…”
Adeleke’s dark eyes filled with heat.
Martyna pushed against him playfully. “Let’s go to the lake… your favorite spot.”
She winked. “Consider it an early birthday gift.”
As the rose–gold disappeared into the night, my mind–link pulsed again.
A message. From Adeleke.
“My dear, that wounded warrior lives by the lake, and I’ll be guarding it all night tonight, so don’t
wait for me to return to the lair.”
