Though Suzy did her best to mask her emotions, the moment she returned home, Allen immediately noticed something was off.
He quietly called Riley, and upon learning it was because of Dylan, Allen’s thoughts turned murderous.
Ex–husbands, especially ones like Dylan, were just a mood killer.
Of course, killing Dylan wasn’t exactly easy, but it might be simpler to first cheer Suzy up.
So, for lunch, Allen cooked a feast.
Watching her mood lift and seeing her eat an extra plate of pasta, Allen finally brought up his plan
“How about I handle tomorrow’s treatment instead?” he suggested, figuring that if she avoided Anne, her mood might stay better.
“You already spoke to Riley, didn’t you?” Suzy had noticed him sneaking a call earlier. “Boss, if you still can’t get over Dylan, just go back to him. As for Anne, leave her to me. I can make sure she disappears from the face of the earth.
Suzy laughed. “What nonsense. It’s true, though–he does mess with my mood. I try to avoid him, but we keep running into each other. It’s so frustrating.”
Allen blinked. “That’s it? You’re just annoyed from bumping into him?”
Well, at least it wasn’t because Suzy still had feelings for Dylan!
In that case, Allen would make sure they didn’t cross paths again.
Late that night, at Bayview Heights, in his study.
It was past midnight, but Dylan was still typing away furiously.
Strings of code flashed across the screen until finally, with one last keystroke, the code decrypted the security footage.
A clear image of Suzy appeared on the monitor.
Three hours of work had finally yielded results, and Dylan’s expression softened as he watched the footage, which confirmed that Suzy had indeed run into Diana earlier.
…Whatever feelings he has for Anne, it has nothing to do with me anymore…”
For reasons he couldn’t explain, hearing her say that made Dylan deeply uncomfortable.

The cold, indifferent look in her eyes left him feeling hollow like something important had slipped through his fingers.
Had the divorce really been her true intention, not just part of some scheme?
The thought clenched his chest even tighter.
“You wanted to marry me, and now you’re the one demanding a divorce? Who do you you are!”

After a few swift exchanges, it became clear that the intruder wasn’t gaining any ground.
Realizing the futility, the attacker attempted to retreat, but Dylan wasn’t one to let things slide easily.
He pursued relentlessly, eventually subduing the man.
“Who sent you?” Dylan demanded, glaring at the man who lay battered on the floor.
The man sneered, showing no sign of fear. “Do what you want. Kill me if you have to. I’m not talking.”
“Is that so…” Dylan pressed his foot into the man’s chest, smirking. “Let’s see how long that lasts.”
Calling for his butler, Dylan had the man locked up.
Though the intruder remained tight–lipped, Dylan had already noticed something familiar in his fighting style–a resemblance to the woman he had faced at the hospital that night.
If the woman from the hospital had been sent by Suzy, it was likely this man was connected to her as well.
Kidnapping. Poisoning. Assassination attempts…
“Suzy, are you really just a helpless orphan with no connection at all?”
