Evelina screamed, “Lemira knocked me out and brought me here!”
Lemira’s lips curled into a cold smile, “No, we were going over the project proposal together. It got late, and you fell asleep.”
“You’re lying! You knocked me out and brought me here. You knew what was going to happen. You set me up on purpose.”
At that moment, Evelina was so furious she wished she could wring Lemira’s neck.
Lemira retorted, “What do you mean I knew what was going to happen? Do you have any proof?”
“Of course, I do! The hallway has…”
Security cameras?
Evelina suddenly remembered she had instructed Zack to turn off the cameras to erase any evidence of her
presence.
Now she had no proof that Lemira had brought her here.
What was she going to do?
Lemira’s eyes were icy, “You were going to say there are cameras, right? Fine, then go check the footage. Why aren’t you saying anything? Is it because you know the cameras were turned off by Zack and there’s no evidence?”
“No, how could I possibly know? You’re the one who turned them off, not me!”
Evelina’s face was full of guilt, unable to admit the truth.
Asher was getting a headache, “So, what actually happened?”
Lemira picked up a glass of milk nearby, “This milk was tampered with. Anyone who drinks it falls asleep. Evelina was with me discussing the proposal, and she told me not to lock the door. Then Zack, drunk as a skunk, barged in.”
Evelina quickly interjected, “I had no idea about any of this! You kicked Zack out, and he held a grudge against you, which is why he did it.”
She had already thought up an excuse.
Lemíra nodded, “You might be right. Who would have thought you’d fall asleep in my room? I just went to the bathroom, and when I came back, all this happened.”
“That’s not what happened!”
Evelina protested vehemently; she hadn’t just fallen asleep.
Lemira pressed, “Are you saying I knew Zack would come up to assault me, and I deliberately brought you here to get assaulted?”
Evelina couldn’t dare say that. She lowered her head, tears of resentment falling, “Asher, I swear I was in my own room. Lemira brought me here.”
Lemira looked at Asher, “Evelina fell asleep in my room. She’s misremembering.”
With no footage, Evelina’s words lacked proof.
Evelina started sobbing loudly, “Asher, you have to believe me!”
Lemira glanced at Asher, with a mocking smile, “So, you still only believe Evelina, right? Then maybe I should leave. I can’t stay with the Langston family anymore.”

Asher was exasperated. Lemira had this temper, and if things didn’t go her way, she’d threaten to leave. He couldn’t bring himself to say a harsh word.
Lucian spoke up, “We can wait until Zack wakes up and ask him. Maybe he didn’t even know which girl was in
the room.”
Caspian nodded, “Exactly. This is Lemira’s room; clearly, someone was targeting her.”
Evelina’s heart sank hearing this.
Damn, if Zack talked, she’d be exposed.
Evelina hurriedly suggested, “Let’s lock Zack in the basement. I want to question him myself tomorrow.”
Caspian stepped forward, “No need to wait until tomorrow. I’ll wake him up now and get to the bottom of this, so nobody can worm their way out of it.”
Caspian had fallen victim to Evelina’s tricks before, and he was determined for Asher to see Evelina’s true colors today.
Without hesitation, Caspian dragged Zack to the bathroom and splashed cold water on him.
Seeing this, Evelina felt a twinge of panic. She had to think fast; she couldn’t let Zack spill the beans about her. Lemira noticed Evelina’s anxious expression and her smile grew colder. She was curious to see how the “two–faced” girl would talk her way out of this one.
Soon, Zack was jolted awake by the cold water.
