Suzy’s words and demeanor made it abundantly clear–she wanted no further entanglements with Dylan.
In the past, Dylan would have said something to counter her. But this time…
“Go eat. Allen’s really worried about you,” he said instead.
Once, Dylan might have been jealous of Allen, but after everything they had been through, he now saw Allen as part of Suzy’s family–like an older brother.
Despite calling Suzy “Boss,” Allen was actually a few years older than her.
It was obvious Dylan was avoiding the subject, but Suzy wasn’t planning to let him off that easily.
“Dylan, think it through. That girl is really a great match for you.”
Without responding, Dylan turned his wheelchair and headed toward the door.
Suzy frowned deeply but followed him downstairs to eat.
She was famished after going so long without food, but after just a couple of bites, her stomach began to churn uncomfortably.
She couldn’t take another bite. Feeling nauseous, she decided to head back upstairs to continue working on the files.
Before she could leave, Dylan suddenly grabbed her hand. “Eat a little more.”
“No, I’m fine. I’m not hungry anymore-”
Before she could finish, he stuffed a piece of meat into her mouth. The discomfort in her stomach surged instantly, and nausea overwhelmed her.
She shoved his hand away and bolted to the bathroom, where she threw up everything she had just eaten.
Even the bile in her stomach came up before she finally started to feel a little better.
Dylan followed closely behind, worry etched on his face. He held a glass of water, offering it to her as soon as she was done. “Here, drink some water. It’ll help.”
Suzy didn’t say anything, taking the glass and sipping twice, only for her stomach to revolt again. She vomited almost immediately.
Dylan’s dark eyes flickered with realization.
“Suzy, that night you helped me detoxify–was it you? And if you’re feeling like this… could it be that you’re pregnant?”
Suzy froze mid–rinse, her movements pausing for a few seconds before she turned to him, her face full of mockery.
“Don’t talk nonsense if you don’t know the basics. Even if it had been me that night–which it wasn’t–it’s way too soon to have symptoms like this. And for the record, it wasn’t me!”
“I just haven’t eaten for days, and my stomach’s acting up. If you don’t believe me, try going a few days without food yourself and see if you end up like me,” Suzy said sharply.
Standing in the doorway, Allen couldn’t help but laugh.

“Mr. Wright, no matter how much you want my boss to have your child, you’ve got to stay grounded in reality and stop daydreaming.”
He chuckled again, clearly amused.
“My boss has been working at high intensity for three or four days straight. Of course, her stomach would act up. And look at those panda eyes of hers–she’s so sleep–deprived, even a real panda would call her ‘Master.“”
Turning to Suzy, Allen launched into another round of nagging.
“Boss, Dylan’s already solved most of the issue for you. Just take a break and leave the rest to us.
“Granted, my skills aren’t on your level, but with Dylan and me working together, we should be able to handle it. “Who knows? By the time you wake up, we might already have the files recovered.”
Allen looked at Dylan. “Isn’t that right, Mr. Wright?”
Dylan nodded. “Exactly. Go rest. Leave the rest to Allen and me.”
Suzy was indeed feeling awful, and she knew Dylan’s skills were more than competent. Without overthinking it, she nodded.
“Alright, I’ll leave it to you two. I’ll go get some sleep.”
